When you are creating a short film, you might think that it’s going to be easy. But that’s hardly ever the case. Here are four things that you want to think about when you are creating your short film and prepare for.

1. Location

The first thing that you have to think about when it comes to a short film is the location. This is going to take a lot of time to find the right spot, unless you have a place already in mind based on the topic of the film. You want to take time and scout out the perfect place.

2. Equipment

This is another thing that you have to consider. If you have the right equipment, be sure that the crew you’re using knows the way to use the equipment that you are using. You also want to have another person who is looking at your frame. You shouldn’t just rely on a single person to ensure it’s correct. This can cause a big problem.

3. Communication

No matter the length of your film you want to make sure that communication is key between you and those who are working on the film with you. Everyone from your hair and makeup people to the costuming and everyone else who is working on the film. You want to let them know what you expect and what you need. Otherwise you may have the wrong people for the job.

4. Patience

Keep in mind that shooting a film, even a short one, is going to take time. So you want to be patient. Chances are that it’s not going to go smoothly the first time, second time or even the third time, especially if this is your first film. So you want to be patient and not get too stressed. Practice makes perfect and it will take time. Plan for that and you won’t become as stressed.

These are four things that you need to have when you are creating a short film. They will help you have a better chance of being successful and will also help you be less stressed during the process.
